Esbjerg Harbour is one of the largest industrial and logistics hubs in Scandinavia and a strategic centre for Denmark’s green energy development.
The harbour is home to more than 10,000 employees and hundreds of companies working in energy, marine technology, logistics, biotechnology, and industrial innovation.
Over the past decades, Esbjerg Harbour has evolved from a traditional seaport into a high-tech industrial hub, supporting some of Europe’s largest energy projects — including offshore wind and other sustainability-focused industries.
Today, Esbjerg is not only the gateway to the North Sea but also an example of how Denmark combines innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in real business practice.
The visit offers an opportunity to see how Danish companies combine innovation with practical solutions — and to find new inspiration for your own business ideas and strategies.
🌍 About the Business Tour
This visit is part of the Business Tours for Ukrainian Entrepreneurs series organized by The European-Ukrainian Hub in collaboration with Aalborg Institute for Development (AID).
The purpose of the series is to give Ukrainian entrepreneurs an opportunity to see how leading Danish companies operate from the inside and to gain inspiration from real examples of sustainable business, management, and innovation.
During the visit to Esbjerg Harbour, participants will:
- take part in a guided bus tour around the harbour area;
- see how operations, logistics, and safety are organized in a major industrial hub;
- learn about the harbour’s role in Denmark’s energy transition;
- join an interactive Q&A session with a representative of Esbjerg Harbour.
Additional tour details
This business tour will be guided by Dennis Juul Pedersen, CEO of Port Esbjerg, offering participants an exceptionally rare opportunity to learn directly from the person leading one of Denmark’s most important industrial hubs.
The visit will include stops at key sections of the harbour, such as:
- Fishing Harbour
- Traffic Harbour
- Dock Harbour
- East Harbour & South Harbour
You will hear about the harbour’s journey from a traditional fishing port to an international logistics and energy centre, and gain insight into the companies, activities, and specialised vessels operating in the area today.
The route is customised to the ships and operations taking place during the visit, ensuring each group experiences something unique and relevant. As Esbjerg is an active working port, the exact itinerary may change depending on daily operations — which only adds to the authenticity of the visit.
